The Eberhard’s Dairy ice cream trailer travelled around Central Oregon, scooping up fresh and tasty ice cream to the community all summer long.
This year we partnered with the Central Christian School’s Travel Club, whose students scooped in the trailer to raise money for their bi-annual trips abroad. Next year, the students plan to travel to Israel. The students did an excellent job of serving up ice cream at the busy events, and we enjoyed having them on board. If you would like to donate to the Central Christian School’s Travel Club, visit www.centralchristianschools.com and specify that the donation is for the Travel Club.
Smith Rock Way
This May, we kicked off our ice cream flavor contest through social media: a chance to create our Summer 2018 Ice Cream Flavor. We received hundreds of innovative entries but Christy McClung’s flavor took the top prize.

Smith Rock Way is salted caramel swirl with dark chocolate chunks in a light milk chocolate ice cream. The popular flavor was featured in our ice cream trailer and at scoop shops throughout the Central Oregon area all summer long.
Thanks again to Christy for inventing this delicious flavor!
See below to begin planning for next year’s contest!
Deschutes County Fair and Rodeo
The Deschutes County Fair and Rodeo celebrated its 99th year this past August. Eberhard’s ice cream trailer served hundreds of fair-goers each day.
One highlight from the Eberhard’s Dairy Food Court Stage was the August 1st ice cream social that we sponsored in conjunction with the Central Oregon Band of Brothers Veterans Salute. This year the Brothers specifically honored our sometimes overlooked Korean War Veterans.
During the social, the Oregon Band of Brothers raised $700, which Eberhard’s matched for the first time, for a total donation of $1,400.
Next year, we are looking forward to the celebrating the 100th year of the fair by partnering with the Deschutes County Fair Association for an ice cream flavor contest! Look for details this Spring on our blog and social media.
Music on the Green
Music on the Green is a free concert series held every other Wednesday at Sam Johnson Park in Redmond from June 27th-September 5th. Eberhard’s Dairy and First Interstate Bank co-sponsored the event for the fifth year.
Concertgoers enjoyed Eberhard’s ice cream while watching a variety of musical acts from week-to-week ranging from classic rock, to country, to traditional Hawaiian dance.
Scoop it Forward
The Oregon Dairy and Nutrition Council encouraged Oregon dairy farmers and processors to participate in “Scoop It Forward”: a week long-campaign from July 15th-22nd that encourages people to show appreciation for one another through random acts of ice cream. We loved the idea of spreading kindness through ice cream. The Eberhard’s management team scooped out 36 gallons of free ice cream for kids at the free Summer Meal Program for both the Bend and Redmond School Districts.
We were even one of the dairies featured on the ODN Council blog. Emily Eberhard, our Quality Assurance Manager was quoted saying: “We wanted to participate because we loved the message behind Scoop it Forward. We always say without our community we would not be where we are today so it felt good to give back to the community that has given us so much!”
